Visit our https://scf.edu/Administration/HumanResources/Benefits/default.asp for benefit details Job Summary SCF's Traffic Safety Institute, an established non-profit organization with offices in Bradenton, Sarasota & Venice is seeking a DUI Instructor (Non-Clinical) to work in a fast-paced environment. Part-time contract position. Class locations include Bradenton, Dowtown Sarasota, Venice and Lakewwod Ranch. Minimum range $ 22.00 - Maximum range $27.00 NOTE: Job descriptions and essential functions are subject to change due to advances in technology, utilization of workforce, and other factors which may impact the College's need to modify position requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Conducts classes instructing students on the effects of alcohol and/or drug use on driving skills, physical & mental health, family, employment, etc. to clients enrolled in the DUI Program following the guidelines outlined by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Rules for DUI Programs, Chapter 15A-10.022.2. Utilizes approved curriculum guide for each course with appropriate handouts.3. Takes attendance accurately and completely for all course sessions.4. Delivers the curriculum using didactic educational methodologies.5. Answers questions posed by students within the scope of the instructor's knowledge and expertise; refers students to appropriate program resources for all other information. 6. Maintains order in the classroom and creates an environment favorable to learning and development. 7. Communicates with other DUI Program staff on individual students, as needed, to share information for client file. Documents any unusual incidents or observations of any behavior that should be noted on the Student Observation/Incident Report.For the Level II course, all duties and responsibilities described above, except: 8. Delivers the approved curriculum where the educational methodology is more interactive and conducted in smaller groups. Group facilitation skills are utilized to assist students in looking at the role that alcohol and/or drugs have played in their lives. Job Qualifications Education:-Instructors shall possess a bachelor's degree in human services, criminal justice, adult or secondary education, traffic safety, nursing or a doctorate in medicine.And-They shall possess a minimum of four thousand hours of experience in human services, criminaljustice, education, traffic safety or medical care specific to the substance abuser. Note: The experience may be satisfied by direct service delivery, administration, or teaching.Or -A master's degree in human services, criminal justice, adult or secondary education, traffic safety, nursing or a doctorate in medicine may be substituted for two thousand hours of experience. -A Certified Addiction Professional (CAP) status, a Certified Criminal Justice Addiction Professional (CCJAP) status or fourteen thousand hours of experience in human services may be substituted for a degree that is not in human services, but shall not preclude the requirement for a minimum of a bachelor's degree.-Must attend DHSMV pre service training to acquire and maintain State certification as a DUI Instructor according to State of Florida statues for a DHSMV approved DUI program. Physical Demands: The physical demands described he re are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to touch, handle, feel or reach objects, tools and controls; and verbally communicate with students and co-workers. The employee may be frequently required to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Independently transport oneself to various campus locations on a 100-acre campus. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, identification and discernment of colors, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
