Job Summary The position is responsible for advanced accounting activities related to the financial management of the College. Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties: • Compile complex spreadsheets, analyze and reconcile various accounts to the General Ledger. This may include but not limited to Cash, Payroll, Grants, Fixed Assets, and other accounts as assigned. • Prepare routine billings to the SCF Foundation and grant agencies. Review and process interdepartmental transfers, budget amendments, and other requests. Verifies proper fund/organization/account numbers and reviews data for Banner input. • Verifies the integrity of daily Banner feed to Finance reports; identifies and resolves discrepancies. • Prepare monthly journal entries and financial reports. Assist with month-end and year-end closing. • Assists with various audit requests by providing information, schedules, and reports. • Acts as a liaison between Finance and other departments to resolve discrepancies and promote process improvements. • Provides training/coaching for various College staff regarding accounting processes and procedures. • Cross train and acts as a backup with other accounting staff. • Performs other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business from an accredited university and two or more years of related experience; OR equivalent combination of education or experience. • Relevant Experience: Two years of experience with Banner HR/PR module preferred. Experience with Banner Finance module a plus. Advanced Excel spreadsheet experience required. • Supervisory Experience: One or more years as a "lead" employee with responsibility of training new employees and assisting others with problems. • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to technical questions and/or complaints from college leadership, groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. • Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstracts and concrete variables. Ability to work formulas, scientific equations, and graphs. • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, internet, database, and e-mail software. Must become proficient with current College database within three months of hire. • Certificates and Licenses: None required. Responsibility for People and Property: Responsible for the oversight of Payroll. Responsible for overseeing a $35 million dollar annual payroll process, including the payment of benefits, and the confidential records involved in that process. Responsibility for Communication: • Internal Contacts: This position has routine contact with all College staff, faculty and students. • External Contacts: Position has routine contact with internal and state auditors, Federal and state taxing authorities, payroll vendors and general public.
