Visit our https://scf.edu/Administration/HumanResources/Benefits/default.asp for benefit details Job Summary The Accounting and Fund Services Coordinator plays a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the Foundation's accounting and financial services function. This position is responsible for applying standard fund accounting principles and procedures in working with the Foundation's financial records, ensuring accurate and timely reporting and compliance with nonprofit financial regulations. The position works closely with the Director of Foundation Accounting and Financial Services and collaborates cross-functionally with the Foundation's fundraising, scholarships and grants, donor database, accounts payable, as well as all other Foundation departments integral in the financial integrity of the institution. Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties: 1.Analyzes and reconciles various accounts to the General Ledger including but not limited to A/R, Investments, Payroll, Benefits, Payables, Receipts, Accruals, Deferrals, Assets and Liabilities. 2.Compiles complex spreadsheets from payroll records for employee benefits. Reconciles payroll benefits to finance records. Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies with benefit calculations for current and past employees, and determines appropriate corrective procedures. 3.Acts as a liaison between supervisor and other foundation areas and college departments. Coordinates and communicates with relevant personnel to correct records, resolve discrepancies, and promote process improvements. 4.Works with the fundraising team to reconcile donations and pledges and ensure proper donor and fund coding, as well as working closely with the Donor Database Coordinator to align gift and financial records. 5.Assist and work with Accounts Payable to ensure timely and accurate payments and allocations. 6.Participate and assist in budgeting and forecasting. 7.Prepares monthly journal entries and financial reports as required. 8.Performs monthly reconciliation of all cash activity and bank statements. Researches and resolves discrepancies as needed. 9.Prepares routine billings to the SCFActs as a liaison between Foundation Finance and the SCF various departments to resolve discrepancies. 10.Provides training/coaching for various College staff regarding accounting processes and procedures with regard to the accounting cycle and needs. 11.Assists with various audit requests by providing information, schedules and reports. 12.Acts as a backup for the Director of Foundation Financial Services. Provides support to the Foundation and AVP, Finance/Controller, Associate Controller and any other related persons involved in the Foundation or College financial record keeping as required. 13.Performs other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or business from an accredited university and three to five years of relevant experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant Experience: Experience with Financial Edge, Raisers Edge and Banner preferred. Advanced Excel spreadsheet experience Required. Experience with all Microsoft Office suite required. • Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience required. • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to technical questions and/or complaints from college leadership, groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. • Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstracts and concrete variables. Ability to work formulas, scientific equations, and graphs. • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, internet, database, and e-mail software. Must be proficient, or become proficient with current College database within a month of hire. • Certificates and Licenses: None required. Strong Understanding of GAAP and nonprofit/fund accounting principles required. Responsibility for People and Property: Responsible for the oversight and accurate maintenance of Foundation financial personnel record keeping . Responsible for the confidential records, communication and stewardship of potentially confidential donor's and individuals involved in that process.
