S. RUSH DEAN, Bradenton acrylics and oils artist, has been named Featured Artist for September at Island Gallery West. Ms. Dean enjoyed a 20-year career teaching design, drawing and color theory at the University of Maryland and Design at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. Ms. Dean is a longtime member of Island Gallery West and is well known for her compelling land and beachscapes. Always innovative in her art, Ms. Dean’s September exhibit, entitled “New Directions,” will include paintings created using both new and proven techniques. The month-long free exhibit will be presented at Island Gallery West, an artists’ cooperative of 28 local artists. The gallery has been located at 5368 Gulf Dr., Holmes Beach, FL on Anna Maria Island for the past 27 years. Gallery hours are 10 AM-5 PM, Mon.-Sat.
