Name: Celebrate Earth Day by planting a microforest
Date: April 20, 2024
Time: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM EDT
Event Description:
Come celebrate Earth Day with the Manatee Audubon!
Help us plant our microforest at Felts Audubon Preserve 4600 24th Ave E Palmetto, FL 34221.
Our microforest will be nearly .4 acres where we will be planting 1600 plants. Trees, shrubs, grasses, flowers and ground cover will all be planted together at the north side of the preserve. This method (Miyawaki Forest Method) ensures that these forests grow 10x faster. Every microforest provides a haven from wildlife and a healthful site for walking, sitting, meditating and especially birdwatching.

The area will be prepped and ready for volunteers to pop the plants in the holes provided! Refreshments will be available.
Microforests are the region's most powerful tool against climate change. Come help us plant it, watch it grow and know that you made a difference!
